Recent reports revealed by some tech analysts suggest that iPad 3 will be carrying a thinner and lighter battery but will be a bit more pricier. Taiwan Economic news have claimed that Apple has given a contract to two suppliers – Simplo Technology Co. and Dynapack International Technology Corp. to manufacture slimmer and lighter batteries for the upcoming tablet iPad 3. Both Simplo and Dynapack are already supplying batteries for the Apple iPads and MacBook laptops. It has been reported that these batteries will not only be slimmer and lighter but will also provide longer battery life as compared to the batteries in iPad 2.
For better safety, quality and reliability, the new battery is required to meet the CTIA IEE 1625 quality standard. Taiwan Economic news reported that:
“iPad 3 battery module will call for advanced technologies, selling for a higher price to benefit Simplo and Dynapack for sure, especially when the two companies have had their battery packs pass the IEEE 1625 test as the only two battery makers in Taiwan for the moment.”
The new battery is also said to be 20-30% expensive than the battery found in Apple’s current iPad 2. Well this is currently unknown that this price rise will affect the list price of iPad 3 or not.
The news site also mentioned that the suppliers – Simplo Technology and Dynapack International Technology will start to deliver the new battery pack to Apple Company during the fourth quarter of the year 2011 and will ramp up into full production in the first quarter of 2012.
