Apple iPad 3 vs Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 vs Sony S1 & Sony S2… Which one to buy ?

Major companies like Samsung, Apple, Motorola and Sony are ready to launch their devices this year. Their gadgets are expected to have quite different and innovative features. Out of all these tablets lying around in the market, Apple iPad 3, Samsung Galaxy 10.1, Sony S1 & Sony S2 lead the market. But which one of these deserve to be at the top position?  Let’s have a look at their specs and then you can decide for yourself.

Apple iPad 3

ipad 3 Apple’s iPad 3 is considered to be cementing its position at the top. This next generation tablet is rumored to feature some heavy-hitting specs, ones that the competitors will need to overcome if they plan to challenge Apple inc.
Apple’s iPad 3 is expected to be slimmer and lighter tablet made of carbon fiber and aluminum. It is also expected to boast a higher resolution display screen of up to 1536 x 2048 with retina display and the tab is expected to operate on an A6 Quad core processor.
Recent reports suggest that Apple has given the contract to Pegatron instead of its old companion Foxconn to manufacture the iPad 3 units. Taiwan Economic news reports that Pegatron has recently outbid Hon Hai to become the major manufacturer of iPad 3 to meet the huge demands from the market.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

Galaxy Tab 10.1 Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 has also been giving some serious competition to the Apple iPad 2 due to its enhanced display, powerful hardware and impressive processor. The Galaxy tab runs the 1 GHz dual core NVDIA Tegra 2 outbeats the iPad 2 but it is fare less against the iPad 3′s A6 Quad core processor. It weighs lighter & is thinner than iPad 2 making it more comfortable to hold. The Galaxy Tab also stands out 10.1 inch TFT display that stands at the top of all the tablets but the iPad 3 looks to upgrade the current iPad 2′s display resolution by two or three times. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 runs on Android’s latest Honeycomb operating system. With such great features enabled in the Samsung Galaxy Tab, Apple’s iOS 5 doesn’t seem to be quite appealing for the ipad 3, Apple needs to think over it.

Sony S1 & Sony S2

Sony Ericsson joined the tablet market by introducing its fancy folded tablets Sony S1 and Sony S2. The most noticeable and appealing features will be the sloping design that gives it a unique look as compared to the number of tablets available in the market. The folded tablet is a one-piece lightweight device that makes it more comfortable to hold with just one hand.

Sony S1 & S2
The S2 tablet can be folded too. The S2 tablet offers a dual-screen touch display and runs on a NVDIA Tegra processor and is small enough to be put in a pocket.Phil Molyneux, President of Sony Electronics proudly mentioned that: “There’s not many actual other products that you can actually fit in your pocket today unless you make your pocket much bigger.”

Both these devices will operate on Android operating system and will integrate Sony’s ‘Throw’ feature that allows users to swipe their display and put their content onto another TV screen. Sony’s Qriocity streaming devices and Playstation video gaming capabilities are some other features that are included in the Sony’s tablet devices. Both these devices provides enough uniqueness to face the iPad 3 and are expected to hit the stores this fall.

Thanks for the write-up. I’ve been agonizing over this same issue as I will be a first-time tablet buyer. But I think it’s a bit unfair to compare the Samsung and Sony shipping products with an Apple product that is still in the rumor mills. Just sayin ….
